Biogradability of latex balloons

Latex balloons are made from a natural organic material (milk of the rubber tree) and are biodegradable. Also the small amount of pigments are organic.

For the production of balloons the using of some anorganic additives is neccessary (< 0,3 %). For opaque balloons some high grade  titaniumdioxid is added to the latex, which is also used for sun cremes.

Some investigations came to the concluion that a latex balloons degrade as fast as a leaf of an oak tree under the normal enviromental conditons of sun light, oxygen and ozon, weather and bacterias.

Nevertheless do not waste the enviroment with balloons or pieces of balloons.
